


On August 23, 2022, another inmate became unresponsive from an apparent overdose and given Narcan and quickly regained consciousness. The Detention Center medic staff was contacted and the inmate was treated and observed.
On August 24, 2022, After multiple interviews Investigators with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office learned that on August 22, 2022, Dennis James Moore II was sentenced in District Court for a period of six days. Anticipating his incarceration MOORE had placed six pressed fentanyl pills inside his rectal cavity. Once inside the Detention Center MOORE along with Gary Wayne Terry Jr conspired to trade the narcotics for commissary. Shortly after the narcotics changed hands the Overdoses began being reported.
On August 24, 2022, The following Felony charges were issued for both MOORE and TERRY.
Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule 1 controlled substance
Sell & Deliver Schedule 1 controlled substance
Possession of a controlled substance inside a Confinement Facility
MOORE and TERRY both received a $ 75,000.00 secure bond

This case took the entire Criminal Investigation Division working diligently to ensure the safety of inmates and officers of the Rutherford County Detention Center
