| UPDATE The deceased victim has been identified as 47-year-old Jimmy Lee Cool.
Captain Shanon Smith with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 38-year-old Jeffery Allen Higgins with Murder. Higgins is being held under no bond. Around noon on November 9th, deputies responded to Fairview Rd. in Marion for a disturbance resulting in a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound. An investigation led to Higgins being the shooter and he was taken into custody. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.
