N. Washington St. Baking Co. offers a full service bakery with artisan-style, made from scratch baked goods using high-quality ingredients which include croissants, cakes, cake slices, specialty loaf breads, cookies, cupcakes, and much more.
Located just past Tony’s Produce Stand on 64 as you leave Rutherfordton towards Lake Lure in the former wine shop, the Hudson’s have renovated the building into a modern bakery with plenty of off- street parking, fabulous baked goods, and exceptional customer service.
We started to order one of everything, but the store was already crowded on the day of their soft opening and in a moment of compassion we made a simple order so there would be some for others. We sampled the sweet potato/pecan bread and immediately purchased a loaf that went to a good friend.
“Excellent! Where did you get that?” my friend asked. She, too, had been longing for a full bakery nearby. I told her about the new excellent bakery.
Unfortunately I also had to admit to my friend that I had purchased a delicious slice of the Carrot Cake which she did not get, and was going to have to go back to buy a piece of the Italian Creme Cake. Mercy. Thinking silently to myself, “Just in time for me to fake my Thanksgiving baking since I’ve lost my touch.” They are taking orders for Thanksgiving dinners.
