Rutherfordton Fire Station to include Gun Ranges
The Rutherfordton Town Council approved the building of Fire Station No. 2 at 1701 Baber Road. The station which includes gun ranges is expected to cost just over $1 million. Plans for the site are shown below.

Pogue Mountain Fire now 300 acres with 45% containment.
Here is information available for the Huntsville Mtn. Fire on Pogue Mountain in McDowell County (Marion). The Hunstville Mountain Fire is roughly 300 acres in size, 45% contained. Currently, 10 structures have been threatened. There are no structures damaged, no injuries and no evacuations. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation. […]
