Around 11 p.m. on April 21st, McDowell County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting in the 3500 block of US 221 north in Marion.
Upon arrival, they located a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was flown to Mission Asheville for medical treatment.
A search for the female suspect by MCSO deputies and US Marshals led to the location of her abandoned vehicle this morning in the surrounding area.
A short time later, deputies located the female who suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She has been transported to the hospital and there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time. This is an active crime scene investigation and more information will be released at a later time.
